Hints of settling, 5 (more like 2) weeks in

Today was one of those glorious days. Hours of light rain made for a cool breeze that we fully took advantage of by throwing open the balcony sliding doors and our front hallway door, creating an amazing flow through the whole apartment. We don’t get too many of these cooler days, and since later in pregnancy I ran hot all the time and had the AC on constantly, I felt like I wasn’t enjoying one of the top reasons I chose this unit in particular back in November: the wind coming off the pricey sea view.

It’s been almost 2 weeks since checking out of the confinement center (more on that later). Unlike some of the other parents in the confinement center, we hung out with our little dude in our room most of the day instead of leaving him under the excellent care of the nursery, I felt we knew him much better. Still though, not having 24/7 nurses to help is definitely a transition.

Most of today felt like grooving, things weren’t put away from our KL overnight but Minato was deeply napping so Ken and I spent some time doodling some high contrast cards with sharpie. I haven’t mustered getting out the sewing machine or the knitting needles since being back, but this little project felt doable and I got two done before the milk mouthing started.

Guess who drew this advanced high contrast baby sensory development card.
Newborn wearing feels like balancing the three legged stool of time, poop and hunger.

Yesterday we had tried and failed to baby wear to the mall, the guy just wasn’t having it and Ken went on a solo diaper run instead. Today though, we did it! First baby wearing froggering across the street to the mall, picked up some wet wipes and random Daiso baby items.

Of course no day is complete without its downs, which we hit after the mall with a fussy and probably overly tired baby. We are still trial and erroring our way through each fuss.

Sadly no more Tour (yooo I was top 1% in velogame) to watch live anymore, but dinner was a tasty lamb shoulder (50% off at the grocery store under our apartment) plus rice cooker steamed kabocha and carrots.

One day at a time!
